Why Is Phuket So Famous?

Besides having some of the most beautiful beaches in South East Asia and offering a huge variety of things to do and see,Phuket Island is very lucky to also be surrounded by some amazing natural wonders.This all has made Phuket a very popular and famous holiday destination.Here are some of the attractions that you can find surrounding Phuket Island’s shores : –

In Phang Nga Bay,which is right next to Phuket Island,stunningly tall limestone formations tower out of emerald green waters,these rock formations were made famous by the James Bond movie “the man with the golden gun”.You can enjoy the fantastic scenery by boat and another very popular activity there is canoeing into caves,some of which lead to amazing hidden lagoons.

Nearby are the twin islands Ko Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai,their quiet roads,slow pace of life and abundant nature make them great places for exploring by bicycle or motorbike.This is what Phuket was like 30 years ago before it became a major tourism destination.

Then there are the famous Phi Phi islands which are known for their stunning rock formations and beautiful beaches.Besides enjoying the scenery, visitors can engage in activities such as snorkeling,scuba diving,rock climbing,hiking,boat tours around other nearby islands and last but not least partake in the very lively nightlife scene.

Other than the aforementioned islands you can find numerous other tropical paradise islands off the coast of Phuket,most of them are closeby making them ideal for day trips.

On the mainland to the north of Phuket is Phang Nga province which can be easily reached by crossing Sarasin bridge.Here you can find large areas of unspoiled nature where you can – visit waterfalls, enjoy very quiet beaches, visit an elephant sanctuary, check out Takua Pa’s historic town and do river rafting.Further north on the coast is the departure point for boats going to the Similan islands,these islands are some of the most beautiful islands in the world.And then further up the coast is the famous resort town of Khao Lak.
